Inventions That Potentially Fight Terrorism
Terrorism is no laughing matter. Who could forget the 911 bombing and terrorist attacks which left hundreds dead, and so many more injured and missing? Not until that time has the United States felt a terrorist threat so serious. However, late last week, the U.S government, once again felt an Al Quaeda threat so serious that they have decided to close 19 US embassies in the Middle East over the weekend.
Through the years, so many people have worked tirelessly with the common goal of decreasing, if not totally eliminating terrorist threats. Inventors too have done their fair share of the work, coming up with inventions and products that may somehow help in the fight against terror. Although we may not be updated on the very latest ones, as they will logically be kept under wraps and under secrecy, we have found some notable and interesting inventions worth mentioning and talking about. We’ve rounded them up so that you too, can learn about them.
A Poisonous Gas Face Protector
Inventor Kuk Bin Lee submitted a patent for a poisonous face gas protector on January 5, 1976. One of the ways that terrorists may choose to inflict harm is by dropping noxious gasses on unsuspecting individuals. The inventor decided to try and find a way to protect the masses against this threat through his invention. Not only that, but the mask also helps secure visibility, in case the gas makes things hazy, or even in other emergencies, such as fire. The mask allows the wearer to protect himself from harmful gasses and escape from the area safely.
Backscatter X-ray System
The September 11 attacks really left the United States with many valuable lessons. Among them was the realization that terrorists can take any commercial aircraft and use it to their advantage. Because of this, there was a major change in security procedures for everyone who flies commercially. We all have to go through stricter security checks. One of the more recent inventions that were proposed to check if there are any concealed weapons is the backscatter x-ray system. This type of x-ray machine is so much more precise than the old models used. This invention can even detect things that may be hidden inside the body. This caused a controversy, that is actually still ongoing. No one knows for sure if the backscatter x-ray system will really be implemented in U.S airports, or when that will happen.
Biohazard Suit That Comes With A Toilet
Do you still remember the anthrax scare that came a little after the 911 attacks? That incident was one example of chemical terrorism on the rise. To counter chemical terrorism, some inventors came up with this (crazy) idea of a biohazard suit. The crazy part is because this particular suit comes with a built-in toilet! Yes, you read that right, this suit has a little attachment at the rear so that if the wearer needs to go, all he has to do is position himself in a seated position and go. It seems a little strange to us, but then again, if there really was a biochemical threat, this would probably be the safest way to do number 1 and 2!
Terrorists are continuously coming up with new terror tactics, so there is always a need for new and even more innovative inventions that can prevent these terror attacks from happening. If you have a great idea for an anti-terror invention, you can actually do your country, and your community a great service if you choose to develop it. There are plenty of ways to do that, and one of that is to explore where your idea could go with an invention development company. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and pitch your anti-terror idea. You could be credited as the next big inventor who revolutionized our continual fight against terror!
